Seminar Instructors:
Jan Root, Standards Manager, Utah Health Information Network

Dr. Root holds degrees in Biology (B.A, M.A), and Health Education (Ph.D). She has worked as a biochemist, a health data base manager, and for the Utah Department of Health in primary care and rural health. She has been the Standards Manager at the Utah Health Information Network (UHIN) for 5 years. In this position, she has been in charge of developing state-wide health care data transmission standards. She was Co-Chair of the ASC X12N 837 (Health Care Claims) workgroup for 4 years and is currently Co-Chair of the ASC X12N TG3 WG2 (Health Care Modeling) work group. She is the author of the X12 837 professional implementation guide for HIPAA.
