Introduction to CICA (Context Inspired Component Architecture)
Lisa Shreve, President, SysCom Strategies, Inc.
Wednesday, October 19, 2005, 9:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m.
In an increasingly interconnected global economy, business data is transmitted in many languages, on many platforms and in a wide variety of formats. Similar data can have different nuances, different contexts and different forms. To address this proliferating disarray of data, the Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 created the Context Inspired Component Architecture (CICA). CICA organizes and structures data so that it is reusable, predictable, and understandable to your business and all your trading partners. This introductory session gives attendees a firm understanding of the basic principles of X12's syntax neutral architecture and explains how individuals can build XML business documents using the proven X12 open, consensus-based standards process.
